Christmas week, part 3

After Maddie’s nap on Christmas, we took a trip downtown to check out the new Maggie Daley Park. It’s just east of Millennium Park, so we parked underground by Michigan Avenue and walked up. The head sculptures in Millennium Park look very cool at night.

Christmas visit with Debbie and Maddie, December 2014

We walked over the newly re-opened Frank Gehry bridge that connects the two parks and got, along with many other curious Chicagoans, our first glimpse of Maggie Daly Park. Like everyone says, it’s really amazing. I don’t have photos to do it justice or even cover what’s open now, but it’s all based on playgrounds. There are playgrounds for ages 2-5, 5-12, a skating ribbon (not a rink, but a path that curves around and even rises and falls slightly. It will be a walking path in summer and ice skating path in winter), and climbing walls. Parts of it have just opened and the full opening will happen this summer. Here are the few photos I took of Maddie and Miles at the bottom of a slide, and Liam climbing up some kind of set of bars on a hill.

And here are some more cute photos 🙂 also showing how much Maddie likes wearing her hat!

  1. Daly Park seems to be an amazing place. What a fun place for any age group to visit.t

  2. That new park sounds great! Colman liked the isea of tge ice rink path although i doubt either of us would make it all the way around!

    1. I’m a bit concerned about skating up an incline, as you know from our visit there we can barely walk up and down hills, let alone skate it! Will keep you posted on what it’s like once we give it a try.
