Readers will know that I have been trying to get to Florida to see Debbie, Jeff and Madeline for some time. Right at the end of 2014 we figured out a way to make it happen — I would go to Florida for a few days then Debbie, Madeline and I would travel back to Chicago to spend Christmas here while Debbie was off work and Jeff was working. Aside from a bumpy, sleepy start (I woke up 30 minutes before my flight was to take off but managed to reschedule for later in the day!) all worked out great. In Florida, Madeline and I played a water pouring game that was a lot of fun
We went to Hollywood Beach and had a picnic
I also got to go running outside at Flamingo Park near their house, wearing shorts and breathing in humid, fragrant air. Nice!
On the Monday before Christmas, we said goodbye to Jeff and flew to Chicago. Maddie was very good on the plane! Once at our house, she really liked playing with our Brio trains, feeding the piggies, drawing, and playing with Liam and Miles.
We also went on some fun outings to places readers will be familiar with.
Zoo lights at the Lincoln Park Zoo. It was very warm, relatively speaking! Nowhere near freezing. Debbie and Madeline rode the little train. We think Madeline may have an interest in trains that approaches Liam’s at that age!
We visited the Garfield Park Conservatory twice and enjoyed the Florida like conditions inside.
We also stopped by the superbly decorated house in Logan Square covered with Christmas decorations.

Nice to see so many familiar spots… Maddie looks like she had fun everwhere she went! Nice that you still have the train set to entertain little visitors!
Great to see you having a wonderful Christmas with Maddie!
