Yesterday’s work in the back yard had the biggest wow factor yet. It’s scary how nice it looks now !

Oh wow that is lovely! I really like the brickwork you chose. I meant to ask whether you kept any of your old plants (or do they just not survive winter) or are you getting all new plants?
Thanks, all! The garden had a lot of plants that are perennial in our zone, but many were in the area where the path now is. Many of them were also suffering because there wasn’t much light there — which is one of the factors that spurred this project. It looks like the three oak leaf hydrangeas at the back survived, which is great because they are very bushy and will be the “mature” plants in the new yard. I think we’ll be starting with some plants in pots and see how it all works.
