Thought I’d post a spring break update… it’s an unusual one with the boys out of town to warmer places and John and I recovering back in Chicago. Well I’m not recovering but helping with the recovery!
Liam left last Sunday morning for a building trip to Birmingham, Alabama, with his school’s Habitat for Humanity club. They took a very nice coach bus there, which took about 11 hours from Chicago. Their first day was a day off, and Tuesday they started work. Liam worked on flooring, which he said was more mentally than physically challenging!
Meanwhile, Miles headed to Florida by himself on Monday morning to stay with Debbie, Jeff and Madeline. He navigated himself through Midway Airport like a pro, had an uneventful flight, and Debbie met him at the Fort Lauderdale airport, all very smooth! Since arriving, he’s having a lot of fun playing with Madeline and riding bikes with them to the park nearby with a playground. Thanks for everything, Debbie and Jeff, especially outfitting Miles with sunglasses and a hat — two things I completely forgot are important in summer!
Debbie took Miles to the training center last night, where he got to fly a real flight simulator as he said “all around LA”!

Back in Chicago, we are working on setting up a routine that allows John’s leg bone to heal. He’s been doing his exercises very regularly, and is weaning himself off the pain medication. They’ve made a lot of accommodations for him at work and it’s going pretty well but there’s nothing like being on crutches to make a person realize how far we have to go to make buildings truly accessible for all! The swelling is down in his leg and he’s doing well with the physical therapy — he had a second appointent today. Oh, and it snowed Monday evening here, I snapped this photo of one of our libraries on campus Tuesday morning before it all melted. Coming up soon: work starts on our backyard project tomorrow morning!

Enjoyed seeing the photos!
Lots of Cindy & Kennymen activity country-wide by the looks of it! Very cool that Miles got to use the real flight simulator … I wonder if he’ll be bitten by the flying bug! Enjoy the rest of spring break
Great for Miles to be able to use the flight simulator.
Enjoy rest of hols Miles with your cousin Madeline and aunt Debbie and Jeff.
