Garden update

We had a couple days of very intense rain last week. The only problem this caused was more general grief for our distressed roof. They still haven’t been around to fix it! Grrr. But the garden looks well with the good watering it got.

Look at our oak leaf hydrangea!

We have a “pet” pigeon– a female pigeon who built a nest in the gutter right outside Miles’s window and laid an egg in it before I had a chance to get rid of it. She sits there all the time now. We weren’t sure how the nest would survive a rainfall but it seems to have not been bothered in the least. Once the gutter stops housing a bird sanctuary we really must check to see if the gutter is even functional at that spot! Not a great picture but here’s the mother pigeon:

  1. Your roof sounds like a combination of our new & old apartment blocks. Our old one had pigeons everywhere and the new one has leaks! Oh the joys of home ownership!

  2. Suppose I should add that we are getting something done about our current roof – shouldn’t be long now till it gets replaced. Garden looking good by the way!

  3. Thanks! The roofers arrived this morning. Perhaps they couldn’t stand the shame of being mentioned on the blog!

  4. Nice shot. Be careful removing nest from gutter. I found it a bit scary when I patched up the area to keep out the small birds.

  5. Garden looks good. Youd know it got the rain. Hope roof repair is done for you soon.
