Walk 2 at Manly and evening out with Colette and Colman
September 3, 2012
The next day we went east from the ferry station at Manly. That way took us past the beach and up to some really scenic spots, much more open and less wooded than the other walk.
Pond up high at Manly.ooh, instagram version!Game called Olo that occupied us during many ferry and bus rides!Liam and John playing Olo.The ferries are another form of commuter transportation, and they are fast! We were on a ferry while taking this photo of another ferry crossing in front of the opera house.
Later that night, we met Colette then Colman at the opera house to check out the evening scene. We heard this was a favorite haunt of the Kennys during their visit too!
Last night in Sydney, out with Colette at the Opera BarWe went for a really excellent (of course, this is Sydney!) dinner near circular quay, then took another ferry over to Luna Park!
Luna Park is an old amusement park, “a restored 1930s amusement park.” (http://www.lunaparksydney.com/visitor-information) It’s awesome! We went into the Coney Island building, where you have unlimited access to very simple but some terrifying rides and games!
Luna Park in lights in the evening.
This insane slide starts with a vertical drop of about 15 feet! Here are Colman and Liam at the bottom. They’re sitting in these little carper / burlap bags that you put your legs into for the slide. I was the only wimpy one who didn’t go on the scary slide. Colette held out for some time but in the end joined the legion of the brave! This slightly convex disk was very slippy. You had to sit at the top, and the attendant would make it spin. You couldn’t hold on and the centrifugal force would throw the riders off one by one (starting with Cindy, ususally! Look, there she goes!)Colman walks through two barrels, each rotating but in different directions. It’s really hard!

Great pics from Luna Park! You forgot to mention that when I did take on the big slide, I subsequently broke the heel off my boot!
