Native to Australia

Getting back to Australia (virtually, I just wish it were in person!), we left off right in the middle of our trip to the Blue Mountains. On Day 2, we started the day with some flat white coffee, long black coffee, hot chocolate and a really good breakfast in Katoomba. Then we visited the Koomurri Aboriginal Centre in Katoomba. I’d like to point out that John and Colman have found coffee companionship in each other. Every time they were out of sight of Colette and me, they’d somehow stop for another coffee (and waste no time doing this).

At Katoomba, we were encouraged to contribute to the art work near the gallery area by making hand designs on the wall.

Then we watched some very energetic and cool aboriginal dances. We had a chance to get our photos taken with the dancers, which would have been the best Christmas card photo ever, but I couldn’t secure the vote on that one.

We drove to Featherdale Wildlife Park on our way back into Sydney. So many up close views of animals! My favorite was seeing and feeding the wallabies.

State law in New South Wales doesn’t allow hugging of koalas, but you can still stand next to one for a photograph.

Then, prior to visiting Kathleen and Cyril, we stopped for coffee (!) at a really nice little cafe on the Parametta River. I had tea, served in a really delightfully designed teapot, which made me very happy.

Unfortunately we don’t have any photos of Kathleen and Cyril and all their family.  But we had a lovely night, talking about all the Kenny’s who had visited them, as well as reminiscing about Grandpops and Nan.  It was lovely to visit and let Kathleen complete the set of Kenny kids.  That said, we are the first relatives to bring grandkids, so the pressure is now on everyone else!!
