Cape Tribulation and the Daintree Rainforest

Lots of amazing trees for climbing and zipline-ing on in the Daintree rainforest!

Miles in a tree at Cape Trib head. Captain Cook ran aground on the reef (watch it, Captain!) here, thus giving the cape it’s miserable sounding name. Not being explorers encountering all kinds of trouble at sea, we found the name kinda amusing — Cape Paradise would be a better description today!

One of our first adventures in the Daintree area was a zipline tour of the forest.

The zip line guides get to choose your tree name, so here you see the Cookie Monster, Spiderman, Tarzan and the Mad Hatter.
Upside down Cookie Monster. We ziplined the last of 5 or 6 ziplines upside down and with no hands!
Upside down Tarzan. Liam was really good at this, which we are chalking up to natural ability, channeling Tarzan, and training in doing insane things like this at trapeze school last summer.
The hatter at his maddest moment ever, dangling upside down in a rainforest.

  1. Can’t believe we didnt’ look through these pictures when you were here… guess we were all just too busy – looking forward to seeing them all now!

  2. Busy enjoying Sydney and your company, and also the pics are much easier to view here than on my camera! Once I’m finished editing the whole batch I’ll post all to flickr and send out the link.

  3. That looks SO SCARY !!!
Looking forward to seeing more photos on Flickr.

  4. I think it looks scarier than it was. We did the upside down part last, after we had gotten pretty comfortable with the strength of the harnesses and the guides’ good sense not to let us crash into a tree 🙂

  5. Awesome! Wow, upside down is seriously fun-looking. And new family nicknames to boot!
