John’s new winter bike

image

Myself and Cynthia were at a great little 2nd hand bicycle shop, looking for a new bicycle frame for my winter cycling.  This is not an easy item to find, you want good handing, with lots of clearance for big wheels and fenders, with no gears to get messed up by all the salt on the roads.  Cynthia found this bike in a pile of others and it was perfect, an old GT Rapid Transit Cruiser with internal gearing (three gears all in the hub so they can’t get salt on them).  Here it is after I put on the fenders and a new seat.

    1. Hi gang, you’re getting to be quite the entrepreneurs of fixing up old bikes. Good for you! I’ve had several good sunny and warm(40s) bike riding days on the trail near here. The other not-so-good days Mom and I have been doing the two mile walks indoors at the View in GV, one mile from here. Glad that I took out a three month trial membership, it’s a really a great place with nice people and fabulous equipment to use. Have a wonderful Christmas.

      Love, Dad

  1. Yes-id say its a golden oldie alright with a bit of character.
The hub gears were the original gears in this country anyway
    as far as I know-well done-happy christmas.
