John and I both had Dec 22 off work and decided to check out the grand avenue design / vintage shops. Salvage one was particularly impressive, with huge spaces that are also rented out for events and generally so much massive scale! Liam has talked about needing a coat rack and we found one there that was about the size of his whole apartment! (Only a slight exaggeration!)
Miles arrived Friday evening and we had a nice dinner out with him at local segnatore. Then on Saturday we had our traditional outing in the city planned. The plan went from visit to the bean (closed for repairs?!) and a midday movie (Liam hadn’t realized he had a ticket to a Christmas carol!) to dinner at Peruvian restaurant tante then a movie. The revised outing was really lovely, as was a walk on the riverfront and through the foggy city all sparkly with Christmas lights.
On Christmas Eve we took a walk to Humboldt park. It’s been a really mild, feels alarmingly warm to these used-to- midwestern-winters folks! then we did some prep for dinner with Bronwyn, Kaylee and their mom and uncle. (See homemade cookies and purchased Yule log, which required some quick thinking in the refrigerator arrangement arena!) We didn’t get any photos from dinner, huge shame on us. But it was really so nice to meet Kelee and Aaron, and have all of them over! Lots of fun and great to meet them!
More on the teapot full of flowers in the next post!
The lights near the Riverfront look really pretty with the fog!
